I hope you enjoy what I have put together on my creative background. I would like to tell you how I got started in creativity. Well, I first auditioned for a film in high school. I was about 12 years old. A director for the student film asked the wrong thing in the audition. He asked me to be angry. Do not ever ask a 12 year old to be angry. I destroyed the room. He liked what I did, the film never got made though.
Later the creative bug struck again. I was looking at ads in the Miami Hearld when I came across an ad for Ruth Foreman. Ruth Foreman was considered by many to be the first lady of Florida theatre. The next day I went to her office located at the Florida International University campus in North Miami. I went to the office where I was interviewed by Ruth Foreman for her theatre apprentice program. I left the audition and went home. A week went by and I received a message on my phone answering machine to go to the theatre.
I went to her office and found out from her she thought I had something creative about me and she would accept myself and one other as a theatre apprentice. I was told all acting classes would be free at the university while in the program. I began by learning, stage setups, acting classes, childrens plays as an actor and props and sound tech work. A year went by and she was impressed with my sound tech work. She wanted me to be her sound tech at Sunrise musical theatre where she had Ruth Foreman theatre west. This was my beginnings in creativity. I had the opportunity to replace stage actors who were ill, and read when they were not present.
One great highlight was when I did the sound effects for "Crossing Delancy" the play. A nice lady named Eugena Gingold was one of the main charactors. We became friends and one night she asked if I would come to dinner with her and her daughter. I agreed. As I waited at the stage door entrance for her daughter she suddenly asked: "You know who my daughter is, don't you?" I replied no. "My daugther is Carole King the singer. Just then Carole came around the door and we were off to dinner. This was part of my beginning. I hope you enjoy what I have put together on my journey in creativity.
